WELCOME TO WEDDING SYSTEM
WEDDING helps you plan your nuptials by managing the more
intricate and time-consuming details of the ceremony and reception.
Wedding is configurated to handle your engagement, personal
history, bridal shower, invitations, gifts, and honeymoon
information. WEDDING includes programs to help you regulate your
expenses, remember important dates and anniversaries, and print
thank-you notes, and mailing labels, etc.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENT AND PREPARATION
An IBM PC-AT or compatible personal computer is required for
WEDDING system. The computer requires a 640 KB DRAM for the MS-DOS
operating system, a hard disk and a high density floppy diskette
drive. The hard disk is designated as Drive C. Its free memory
space should be at least 10 MB for normal operations. The hard
disk should be formatted using DOS 3.0 or later versions and its
utility programs should reside on the hard disk. When loading the
program onto the hard disk of your computer, a new subdirectory
called WEDDING will be created by WEDDING. This subdirectory will
hold all of the programs and database files. All indexed files
which are needed for operations will also be in this subdirectory.
Execute the following steps to load DOS and WEDDING into your
computer. If you already have DOS on your computer go directly to
step [6], otherwise the DOS subdirectory required for the DOS
utility programs can be created as follows:
[1] Switch on the computer.
[2] At the C:> prompt enter the command MD DOS.
[3] Now go to the newly created DOS subdirectory by typing the
command: CD DOS. The C:> will change to C:\DOS>.
[4] Insert the DOS diskette into Drive A
[5] Now enter the command COPY A:*.*.
All of the DOS utility programs will be copied into the DOS
subdirectory onto the hard disk. Please note that the program to
park the head of the hard disk (PARK.COM) should also reside in the
DOS subdirectory. Consult your computer dealer to obtain such a
program.
After the DOS subdirectory has been created and the files
copied into it, follow these steps to load the WEDDING system onto
your hard disk:
[6] At the C:\> prompt type CD\. C:\DOS> will change back to C:>.
[7] If WEDDING programs and files on diskette: 1.44M(3.5").
Insert diskette into Drive B and at the C:> prompt type
B:INSTALL.
If WEDDING programs and files on diskette: 1.2M(5.25").
Insert diskette into Drive A and at the C:> prompt type
A:INSTALL.
The program 'INSTALL' on diskette will create a new
subdirectory WEDDING and copy into it all the WEDDING programs and
the required database files.
After all the files have been copied into the WEDDING
subdirectory, the program will indexing the files. This indexing
operation takes about one minute.
After the copying and indexing operation, you should remove
diskette from Drive B or Drive A and store it in a safe place.
[8] At the C:\>prompt type CD\WEDDING and C:\> will change to
C:\WEDDING>
[9] At C:\WEDDING> type WEDDING
The WEDDING system is now ready for operation. Normally, you do
not have to repeat this indexing operation. It is repeated only
when the index files in your computer are damaged.
Warning: If you run the INSTALL program again after you have
loaded the WEDDING programs and have entered data, the
existing database files will be erased from the hard
disk.
To ensure normal operation of the WEDDING programs, the free space
available on the hard disk will be checked every time you turn on
the computer. A warning message will be displayed when the total
free space of the hard disk is less than 6 MB (megabytes). When
this happens we suggest that unnecessary files outside the WEDDING
subdirectory be deleted.
